Test Technician

Description

The Test Lab Technician is responsible for performing pre‑tests and electro‑electronic or electromechanical tests routinely on equipment, complying with safety regulations, preparing final reports, and keeping records of the tests performed in a computerized database.

• Test functional performance of circuit breakers, including electrical/mechanical functions, leak, high‑voltage, visual and dimensional inspections.
• Perform mechanical adjustments on circuit breaker components, linkages, and operating mechanisms.
• Compare results with specifications, record test data, and print test results.
• Conduct electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs, replace defective wiring/components, and perform mechanical repairs to support production.
• Analyze test results on defective units and report nonconforming products.
• Confer with engineers, technicians, and production personnel to resolve testing issues.
• Review test reports from other technicians and maintain test report files.
• Calibrate test instruments according to specifications.
• Maintain and repair electrical/mechanical test equipment, gas handling equipment, and test facilities.
• Ensure product meets customer requirements for finished goods.
• Document work performed by completing proper forms.
• Work evening shift and overtime as needed.
• Read and interpret test standards, inspection procedures, safety rules, and operating/maintenance manuals (including IEEE and IEC circuit breaker standards).

Requirements

• Possess articulate, professional interpersonal skills for frequent customer witness tests.
• Speak effectively and write routine reports and correspondence.
• Hold an associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Have at least one year of related experience in quality control testing or electrical panel wiring.
