closure planning

This role involves working with internal teams, delivery contractors, and external partners like Queensland Rail and Transport and Main Roads. You’ll help prepare and review documentation that shows how and when works will happen, making sure plans are realistic, safe, and aligned with project goals.

You’ll also support the governance process by progressing possession requests through approvals, checking readiness, and managing risks or changes. Your work ensures that extended track possessions are delivered smoothly and support the overall sequencing of project milestones.

The Senior Extended Possessions Advisor plays a key role in planning and coordinating major rail closures, known as extended track possessions, for the Cross River Rail project. These closures are essential for construction works and must be carefully managed to minimise disruption to train services and passengers.

  • Coordinate and support the multi-agency planning of extended track possessions in accordance with established frameworks and processes.
  • Report progress and manage issues and risks related to extended track closures and changes to planned works, escalating to the Delivery Sequencing Manager with solutions and mitigation measures.
  • Contribute information and updates to the Delivery Sequencing Working Group (and other governance forums as required) to support discussions, analysis, and review activities related to extended track possessions.
  • Develop and maintain materials (extended track possession applications, options analysis, risk assessments and reporting) for governance approvals to progress to the next stages of planning or assuring readiness of extended track possessions.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including Cross River Rail project teams, Queensland Rail, and construction contractors, to assist in the preparation of extended track possession documentation and alignment of planning and readiness activities.
  • Review technical and planning documents and participate in working groups to support the identification of network and customer impacts associated with proposed possessions.
  • Plan and coordinate extended track closures for Cross River Rail
  • Collaborate with project teams, Queensland Rail, and contractors
