  • Adhere to safety standards and follow established procedures for handling hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces using advanced abrasive blasting methods (e.g., sandblasting, water blasting) to remove rust, old coatings, or other contaminants.
  • Select and mix appropriate materials, coatings, and abrasives based on the specific requirements of each job.
  • Inspect surfaces before and after coating to ensure proper preparation and finish quality.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards.
  • Work is primarily performed on construction job sites, exposed to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
  • Review project specifications and provide input on project planning, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Perform quality control inspections and complete the required documentation for each job.
  • Apply coatings, paints, primers, and finishes to metal, wood, and other surfaces, ensuring uniform coverage and high-quality finishes.
  • Operate and maintain complex painting and blasting equipment, ensuring all tools are in optimal working condition.
  • Train and mentor less experienced Painter/Blaster II staff, providing guidance on techniques and safety practices.

  • Certification or training in safety protocols (OSHA 10 or similar) a plus
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times for safety.
  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical training or certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in painting and abrasive blasting.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding conditions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or on weekends as project schedules require.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
  • Advanced knowledge of surface preparation, paint application, and blasting techniques.
  • Physical labor may be required, including the ability to lift and move equipment or materials.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or elevated areas depending on the project.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of blasting and painting equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Experience in an industrial or construction setting is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to select and mix materials according to specifications.
