Applications Engineer

Description

The Sales Support Engineer provides daily assistance to the direct sales force in applications, proposal development and order processing. Responsibilities include reviewing specifications, selecting pumps, preparing proposals, offering technical support, interfacing with vendors, processing and expediting orders, and acting as a liaison between operations and customers. The position can be based in Placentia, CA; Colfax, NC; Baton Rouge, LA, or considered remotely.

• Review customer specifications and prepare comprehensive professional proposals.
• Use in‑house software to select optimal pumps, generate scope of supply, and submit orders.
• Handle customer telephone inquiries.
• Interface with outside vendors to solicit equipment quotes.
• Process orders efficiently and manage any issues that arise.
• Act as a liaison between operations and the customer.
• Participate in sales calls with the Sales Engineer as part of development.
• Provide technical support to customers.
• Participate in pre‑award meetings as required.
• Develop effective rapport with customer contacts.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Proficient with MS Office and pump selection software.
• Highly organized; able to manage multiple tasks with quick turnaround.
• Knowledge of municipal water and wastewater systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with municipal tender process (preferred).
• 5+ years experience in rotating equipment, preferably pumps.
• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).

Compensation ranges from $67,300 to $100,300, adjusted for experience, location and market factors. Benefits may vary depending on collective‑bargaining status.
