Material Handler Yard/Warehouse

Description

The Materials Handler works under direct supervision to manage the flow of materials and products on the premises, ensuring efficient movement according to established guidelines. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Physically handle and move construction materials, including lifting, carrying, and stacking items.
• Operate motorized and non‑motorized material‑handling equipment, requiring specialized training as needed.
• Follow training from foremen and senior handlers to improve work processes.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and suggest improvements.

Requirements

Work is performed in a production environment with temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, noise, and dust. Employees must be able to lift frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds, and may need to climb, push, or kneel while performing tasks.

• Meet the minimum education requirement of a high school diploma or GED; entry‑level with on‑the‑job training.
• Demonstrate knowledge of material‑handling equipment, manual dexterity, and safety protocols.
• Follow detailed written or oral instructions using common‑sense understanding.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lb frequently and up to 80 lb occasionally; perform tasks involving climbing, pushing, or kneeling.
