The role involves performing and reviewing a variety of chemical and materials tests, conducting internal audits against customer and NADCAP checklists, and developing and optimizing non‑conventional machining processes such as laser cutting, drilling and EDM. You will also program equipment, document machining flows, collaborate with Quality and Special Process teams, drive root‑cause analysis, manage suppliers, and train operators while staying current with industry trends.
- Perform chemical adjustments, conductivity/TDS, resistivity, chloride determination, acid acceptance, nitric acid percentage, free acid, alloy contamination (ICP), stock loss, etch rate, hydrogen content, stress corrosion, pH and capability testing.
- Conduct weekly walk‑throughs of CP and NCM areas to ensure process robustness and compliance.
- Execute annual internal audits for chemical processing and non‑conventional machining per customer and NADCAP requirements.
- Develop, optimize, and document non‑conventional machining processes, including laser cutting/drilling and wire EDM.
- Program and set parameters for Laser and EDM machines to meet dimensional and metallurgical specs.
- Define machining process flows, tooling, fixtures, and quality checkpoints.
- Collaborate with Quality and Special Process teams to satisfy NADCAP, AS9100, and customer‑specific standards.
- Lead root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for process deviations and quality issues.
- Select and manage suppliers or subcontractors for outsourced non‑conventional machining services.
- Train operators and technicians on safe and effective use of advanced machining equipment.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in advanced machining.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or a related field with at least three years of non‑conventional machining experience (or seven years without a degree), plus two years in a manufacturing or quality engineering role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship and be able to comply with ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred qualifications include hands‑on programming of Laser/EDM equipment, strong understanding of material behavior during high‑energy machining, experience with process documentation and validation, ability to interpret complex GD&T drawings, familiarity with NADCAP audits, Lean or Six Sigma certification, and proficiency in CAD/CAM software and precision inspection tools. Aerospace experience and knowledge of titration and chemical testing are also valued.

- Hands‑on experience programming and operating Laser/EDM equipment (e.g., Mitsubishi, Sodick, FANUC, Trumpf).
- Strong understanding of material behavior under high‑energy machining processes.
- Experience creating and validating process documentation such as FAI, PPAP, and control plans.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with NADCAP accreditation requirements and special process audits.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidWorks) and precision inspection tools (CNC, CMM).
- Knowledge of titration methods and other chemical testing techniques.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
