Plumber

Description

Plumbers play a crucial part in delivering planned and reactive maintenance within prisons, ensuring work is carried out safely, compliantly and on time. The standard contract hours are 39 hours per week, and the role may involve working at height and in all weather conditions while upholding H&S standards.

• Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance and repairs, including fault finding and replacement of life‑expired equipment.
• Conduct inspections, water sampling and risk assessments; carry out mains water supply repairs.
• Minimise wastage, improve processes, and ensure statutory works are completed on time and compliant.
• Work at height and in all weather conditions while maintaining H&S standards across the contract.
• Participate in two paid Community Involvement Days per year and additional fundraising opportunities.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a full driving licence, an appropriate trade qualification (Level 3) and experience operating light plant. Ideally the applicant holds an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating and has experience in plumbing maintenance; an NVQ Level 2 may also be considered. Legionella Control (L8) certification and commercial environment experience are desirable, with training provided as needed.

• Hold a full driving licence, Level 3 trade qualification (NVQ 3 in Plumbing and Heating preferred) and experience operating light plant.
• Possess or be willing to obtain Legionella Control (L8) certification; commercial environment experience desirable.
