MEP Design Director

Description

• Lead and develop the MEP design team; oversee project coordination and quality.
• Deliver concept through detailed MEP designs for residential and hotel projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and technical excellence.
• Manage feasibility studies, MEP cost planning, procurement support and financial performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical papers and industry engagement.
• Conduct surveys, due diligence, and technical assessments of existing installations.
• Build strong relationships with clients, hotel operators, consultants and contractors; support business development.
• Oversee construction monitoring and installation sign-off on live projects.
• Ensure robust risk management, performance monitoring, and adherence to Criterion Capital’s delivery processes.

Requirements

Criterion Capital is seeking an experienced MEP Design Director to lead our building services function across a diverse portfolio including residential and hotel developments. This senior role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to deliver coordinated, cost-effective and energy-efficient MEP solutions tailored to high-density living and operational hotel environments.

• Significant MEP design experience across residential and/or hotel sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK regulations, BS standards, health & safety, and industry best practice.
• Consulting or construction background desirable.
• Commercially aware, with experience in financial management and procurement.
• Proven leadership, team development, and client-facing skills.
• BSc/BEng in a relevant engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer status preferred.
