The Senior Modeller role sits within our growing Water Resources team, providing senior technical expertise and guidance to junior staff while expanding our services to local authorities, water companies, and public‑ and private‑sector clients.
- Develop and review hydraulic models (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11/21, HEC‑RAS, ICM) for flood alleviation schemes, risk assessments, and reservoir studies.
- Create water‑quality models (physico‑chemical, biological, bacterial, chemical) using MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, or ICM.
- Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, evaluating risks and opportunities.
- Perform and verify hydrological assessments using the Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
- Lead and contribute to tender proposals, from one‑off projects to multi‑million‑pound framework contracts.
- Mentor junior team members and support their professional development.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Stay current with legislation and guidelines affecting water‑resource services.
- Deliver high‑quality outputs via AECOM’s project management systems, adhering to programme and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with engineers and specialists on fluvial, coastal, surface‑water and drainage flood‑risk projects.
- Work on challenging water projects with industry‑leading professionals.

- Significant experience with hydraulic and water‑quality modelling software (Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW).
- Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood‑risk assessments.
- Basic understanding of physico‑chemical water‑quality and related regulatory standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; progressing toward CIWEM or similar professional qualification.
- Practical scripting ability (Python, Anaconda, Ruby) – advantageous.
