Senior NEPA Lead

Description

• Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff
• Sets goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision and communicates them to employees
• Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching
• Oversees team operations and the daily workflow of the team
• Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
• Agency scoping meeting presentations and materials; agency consultation documents (e.g., Section 7, Section 4(f), Section 106, EFH Consultations)
• Recruits and hires new employees
• Field studies as needed to support NEPA and regulatory compliance
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
• Communicates information from leadership to employees and vice versa
• Mentors others on interpreting, understanding, and employing those laws and regulations
• Works with market sector leaders to advance technical skills within the team
• Permit applications, reports, studies, memos associated with environmental and regulatory compliance

Requirements

• Understands procedures, timelines, compliance concerns, and requirements of the full NEPA and regulatory compliance process
• NEPA documents (CEs, EAs, EISs)
• Years of experience required with advanced degree: 14 years
• NEPA guidelines from various federal agencies
• Highly efficient at providing technical solutions to the most complex challenges and guides others towards the same
• Expert-level ability to interpret, understand, and employ NEPA and Environmental laws, regulations, guidance, guidelines, E.O's, and procedures with full proficiency:
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) - Advanced
• Mastery of technical fundamentals
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
• Driving is an essential job function or a valid driver’s license is required to support legitimate business purposes
• All manner of technical reports, memos and studies associated with and/or required by NEPA and state/local environmental compliance
• Laws and regulations relevant to NEPA and environmental compliance
• Applicable NEPA and NEPA related E.O.'s
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and/or NEPA certification (e.g., through USU / Shipley or Duke University) preferred
• Years of experience required: 15 years
