Step into a role where your expertise directly strengthens the quality and reliability of components used across Hitachi Energy’s global supply network. As a Supplier Quality Engineer in South Boston, you’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring that every purchased material meets rigorous standards, supporting innovation, performance, and customer satisfaction. You will partner closely with suppliers and internal teams to assess quality systems, lead problem‑solving efforts, and drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
In this role you will conduct supplier assessments, audits, and capability studies, develop quality plans and corrective actions with suppliers, and monitor performance using metrics such as PPM, FPY, and SCAR closure rates. You will lead root‑cause analyses, support new product introductions, and apply continuous‑improvement tools like 8D, FMEA, SPC, and Lean to mitigate risks and enhance processes. Maintaining accurate documentation and communication on supplier quality performance is also essential.
If you enjoy collaborating across functions, improving processes, and working hands‑on with suppliers to elevate quality, this position empowers you to make a meaningful impact. Bring your passion for quality, technical mindset, and solutions‑focused approach to a company committed to powering a more sustainable and connected future.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, and has at least three years of experience in supplier quality or quality engineering. A strong understanding of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other quality management systems, along with proficiency in PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, 8D, and Lean/Six Sigma, is required. Experience conducting supplier audits or possessing Lead Auditor credentials, and the ability to travel 25–40 % to domestic and international sites, are also expected.
