risk management

This is a pivotal role where you’ll combine technical, commercial, and project management expertise to secure connections from inception through to energisation — driving the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy future.

You’ll act as the key interface with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Operators (TOs), National Grid ESO, and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs/IDNOs), ensuring projects achieve timely, cost-effective, and compliant grid access.

  • Keep ahead of policy changes, code modifications, and emerging opportunities (flexibility markets, dynamic connections, storage integration).
  • Identify optimisation opportunities and cost savings within grid offers.
  • Lead and manage G99, G100, Statement of Works, and Bilateral Agreements.
  • Oversee surveys, cable routing, meters, MPANs, and import/export agreements.
  • Coordinate regular meetings with DNO project managers and maintain accurate records of progress.
  • Ensure all project milestones align with grid offer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving requirements under the NESO Connections Process (Gate 2 and beyond).
  • Negotiate and secure contracts, securities, and Joint Operating Agreements.
  • Anticipate risks such as grid availability, curtailment, or reinforcement delays.
  • Build strong working relationships with DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, ESO, Ofgem, EPC partners, designers, and legal teams.
  • Facilitate LV and telecoms requirements for connections.
  • Analyse reinforcement needs, and cost implications at distribution and transmission levels.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Commercial awareness of cost drivers, reinforcement works, and flexibility services.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
