The Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring telecommunications networks, ensuring seamless operation and performance to meet business and customer needs. Systems include DWDM, microwave, fiber optic, two‑way radio, narrowband RF, and Ethernet networks and circuits, and the role is based in the Butte Network Operations Center supporting all network system operations.
Key duties include monitoring network performance, conducting regular maintenance checks, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with installation, configuration, and support of equipment like RF systems, multiplexors, routers, and switches. The technician also deploys new infrastructure, provides technical support to team members, responds to incidents—often outside normal hours—documents issues and regulatory filings, analyzes traffic for reliability, and maintains detailed configuration records while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Applicants should have an associate’s degree or technical college training in an electronics‑related field, or equivalent military/industrial experience, plus at least two years of telecom technician experience. Required skills include strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, proficiency with networking technologies, excellent communication, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), First Aid/CPR certification, and a commitment to safety; additional certifications such as Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 are a plus.
The role requires occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lb, occasional driving to installation sites, and the ability to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, to address acute service needs.
