Designs and develops products by studying customer requirements and researching different solutions.
Participates in a cross-functional team to develop new products, sustain current products, detect problems, implement solutions, assist operations and provide aftermarket support.
Handles product change requests by modifying current product design and completing the product change notice.
Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
On occasion, will need to work with production personnel during assembly and testing of the rigs.
Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
Some travel to mines, supplier locations, etc. which may include overseas travel.
Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and provide purchasing department with specifications for ordering electrical components and assemblies.
