This role is to deliver a sustainable sludge treatment and recycling operation for the management of waste water sludges. To ensure that the company has a safe, compliant and cost effective operation delivering high quality sludge products
- Support national strategy development, contributing to regulatory reporting (OFWAT, EA), engaging with key customers, and embedding Kelda’s vision of “Taking responsibility for the water environment for good.”
- Lead operational contract management of sludge treatment partners, ensuring delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality sludge products.
- Build strong external relationships, including with other water companies for benchmarking, and with regulators such as the EA and EH to secure positive outcomes.
- Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
- Lead Yorkshire Water’s sludge recycling operations, ensuring alignment with AMP7 and AMP8 strategies and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements, including the Cunliffe Review.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance, driving high standards in risk management and control of work in line with Yorkshire Water’s Safety Policy.
- Inspire and manage the Recycling Team by setting clear expectations, conducting meaningful performance discussions, and fostering a culture of accountability and recognition.
- Embed strategic change by improving operational practices, data quality, systems, and processes to ensure continued compliance and future readiness.
- Collaborate across the Biosolids team, linking individual contributions to broader team objectives and delivering sustainable performance against industry benchmarks.

If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre-employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third-Party Company, prior to commencing employment. - Strong influencing and communication skills.
- Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
- Full driving licence.
- IT literate with experience in using MS Word & Excel.
- Experience of business planning, resource and budget management.
- Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- Extensive understanding of sludge treatment and sludge recycling processes with experience of operational site management.
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
- IOSH &/ NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience of managing and leading a team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.

- Contract management experience including budgetary control.
