Key responsibilities include learning AECOM’s estimating systems, managing estimate preparation, collaborating with project teams, documenting assumptions, performing financial analysis, and liaising with subcontractors to resolve technical issues. The estimator also creates estimate plans, basis of estimate, bid tabulations, and reviews cost and schedule variances to recommend corrective actions.
- Manage full estimate preparation and support team activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop strategies and plans.
- Analyze estimates to forecast key project issues.
- Document assumptions for bid communication and execution.
- Perform financial analysis and calculate profitability metrics.
- Work directly with subcontractors to resolve technical matters.
- Prepare Estimate Plans, Basis of Estimate, and bid tabulations.
- Review cost and schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate information for special reports and analyses.

Candidates must hold a BS or BA in Business, Construction Management, or a related field and have at least four years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include 4+ years of estimating projects from $1 M to $500 M, experience across civil, structural, mechanical and electrical scopes, proficiency with On‑Screen Takeoff and Microsoft Office, and MCACES certification.
- Quickly master AECOM’s estimating systems and terminology.
- BS/BA in Business, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of estimating experience (or equivalent).
- Experience estimating projects $1M–$500M across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical.
- Proficiency with On‑Screen Takeoff and Microsoft Office Suite.
- MCACES certification preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and multi‑estimate management skills.
- Field, contracting, and federal cost estimating experience.
- Willingness to travel as required.
