Field Application Engineer-(Robot &Vision)

Description

In this Field Application Engineering (FAE) role you will be responsible for the successful implementation of the Robot & Vision product category as well as understanding user needs and application use cases for Robotic Systems. It is a customer facing position that works closely with and supports our Strategic Key Accounts, OEM Machine Builders, and System Integration Partners to instill confidence and practicality in their high value problems, through the application of our industrial grade robotics. The role will require a high level of mechatronics technical expertise and commercial judgement to achieve desired business outcomes. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of the assigned product lines to support Product Management, Sales, and other functional groups to execute the strategy across Delta businesses, partners and customers. Creating strong working relationships with key stakeholders will be important to harnessing organizational impact beyond the assigned product technology and extending to the portfolio, ecosystem and solutions level. This role will be responsible for pre-sales and on-site support at customers, key accounts, and partners - success will rely on leveraging progressive project management methodologies and an expert-level application champion mindset.The ideal candidate will be especially curious and carry an entrepreneurial spirit.

• Follows policies/procedures to resolve routine issues
• Staying up-to-date with industry and business: marketing trends, customer demographics, technical advances, and competition
• Support Sales team and Customers with product training.
• Testing new product introductions (NPI) & systems to verify they perform to specifications
• Work with Product Management and Marketing to make sure product documentation on web page, production selection site and supplied to customers is accurate
• Develop product specs and competitive fight sheets
• Develop and maintain relationships
• Attend tradeshows and support technical conversations with potential customers
• Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge: Collaborating with sales team, engineers, and product managers for obtaining accurate information of application usage, system operations, and product management
• Support Email, Web, and Phone call service requests
• Communicate to a team or customer and see the bigger picture of how your work will be used by others in the organization
• Working closely with HQs and Factory in Asia to follow project status.
• Develop Power Points for pitching sales scenarios
• Exercises professional judgement to determine appropriate actions
• Follows policies/procedures to resolve a variety of issues
• Increase application know-how, developing application notes for product and architecture
• Post-Sales Trouble shooting product issues, validation, on-site and RMA/Rework Assistance
• Performing tests and installations: Preparing detailed schedule regarding the project specification, conducting research on market trends in field application, and analyzing the emerging trends for recommending the new application engineering products.
• Assist Product Launch and define areas of product improvement for next gen
• Build and Maintain relationship with key OEM/ODM customers to engage in early design-in opportunities
• Supplying any issues/bugs/errors back to the R&D team

Requirements

Product Knowledge

Robotic systems include: Robot controls & Simulation Software, Open architecture and CodeSys controls, Visualization tools, Networking, Safety, and EOAT Ecosystem.

• Mandarin speaking ability a plus
• Solves moderate scope problems from general instructions
• Pre-Sales application demonstration, design-in, test/POC, documentation
• Historically demonstrated technical capacity with a hands-on background in designing, installing, programming or testing of Robot & Vision Products & Systems.
• Able to create steps necessary to achieve realistic results-oriented goals
• B.S.E. (EE or Mechatronics or Computer Science) & 1-3 years experience
• Technical capacity & innate curiosity to understand the product and applications
• Quick learner and flexible to adopt to company working culture and processes
• Applies education and experience to professional concepts
• Able to travel out of state and country 20-50%
• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities at one time
• Expanded level understanding of robotics & vision HW & SW products and machinery systems through education and hands-on experience
• B.S.E. (EE or Mechatronics or Computer Science) & 0-1 years experience & Robotics related coursework or project work.
• High proficiency with Microsoft office – Power Point, Excel, and Word
• Highly motivated self-starter with time management skills
• Take responsibility, being comfortable with making decisions, and taking ownership of the role
• Capacity to identify risks and raise issues to relevant stakeholders
• Experience with Power Electronics is required
• Knowledge and experience in machine/factory/warehouse automation applications and use cases – related to selected product category such as: Pick-N-Place, Machine Tending, Automated Assembly, Conveyor Tracking, Collision avoidance, Vision guided Robotics, Palletizing, Path or Dispensing.
• Ability to adapt to Delta’s unique and dynamic culture
• Commercial savvy applying emotional intelligence to the customer scenario
• Critical thinking with ability to understand customer needs, probe for answers, develop a proposed solution, and advocate that solution to the customer.Ability to work with customer and internal stakeholders on insure all deliverables are met.
