The Apprentice, Tower role involves daily construction duties to ensure quality and expedited commercial deployment of services as directed by the Superintendent or Foreman.
Primary responsibilities include supporting tower construction and antenna/line installation, reading site plans and tower drawings, distributing and organizing tools and materials, analyzing job requirements with supervisors, completing work efficiently, maintaining a safe job site, and installing safety barriers correctly.
Qualifications require a high school diploma or GED (preferred), less than one year of tower construction or climbing experience (or 0‑2 years general labor), knowledge of standard knots, the physical ability to climb up to 500 feet, a valid driver’s license, and the willingness to travel domestically up to 90 % of the time. Candidates must also complete SBA’s Tower U training classes.
The position demands physical capabilities such as standing 90 % of the day, lifting up to 75 lb, stooping, bending, reaching, stretching, walking, climbing, and operating a commercial motor vehicle, with reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
Work is performed in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to electrical shock, radiation, mechanical parts, high places, and loud noise from equipment. All safety‑sensitive hires must pass a drug test.
