Description

• Operation, repair and preventative maintenance of the Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler and emergency Generator systems.
• Responsible for performing his or her work safely and reporting to the Chief Engineer any observed safety and security problems.
• Operation and repair of Energy Management Systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC equipment failures including schematic controls wiring diagrams. Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems.
• Maintain accurate lists, security and stocking levels of HVAC service tools and consumable supplies.
• Record on service tickets and work log reports daily activities and per job records.
• Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to HVAC equipment including but not limited to heat pumps, split systems, roof top units, air handling units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, VAV systems, etc.
• Maintain chemical water treatment program at the direction of the Chief Engineer.

Requirements

• Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): The HVAC Technician is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as hot and/or cold weather conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Also, bending, stooping and occasional light lifting to accomplish tasks. Walking particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• DC Stationary License 1st or 3rd (required)
• Good physical condition with ability to lift 75 lbs. and possessing good fine motor coordination and ability to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, heights, and confined spaces
• Ability to diagnose refrigeration systems, air distribution systems and equipment controls
• Communicate effectively in English in speaking and writing
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working on HVAC systems and associated equipment
• Lifting and moving of materials, supplies, and equipment minimum 75 lbs.
• Extensive technical knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance and repairs
• Must be able to respond to after-hours emergency calls
• High school diploma or equivalent
• NATE certification (required)
• Ability to pass drug screening and Federal Government criminal background check
• Advanced HVAC training and manufacturer training
• HVAC Excellence or UA Star Certification (preferred)
• U.S. Citizen or approved registered alien
• Universal CFC Certification (required)
• Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed for emergencies
• HVAC License (preferred)
