Senior Engineer- Drainage

Description

In this position you will lead a drainage team, manage project deliveries, and act as an independent problem‑solver, while conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation measures. You will share knowledge, apply industry best practices, mentor junior teammates, ensure 100% quality through processes and training, and drive a strong health, safety, and wellbeing culture.

• Design and 3D modelling for road drainage projects using Autodesk/Bentley tools.
• Perform hydraulic analyses, network design, CAD production, and scheduling across project stages.
• Lead and support a drainage team, managing project deliveries and acting as an independent problem‑solver.
• Conduct risk assessments, suggest mitigation measures, and review program updates.
• Share knowledge, implement industry best practices, and mentor junior teammates.
• Ensure 100% quality through processes, training, and checklists; drive health, safety, and wellbeing culture.

Requirements

The Senior Engineer role focuses on design and 3D modelling for road drainage projects, requiring proficiency in various Autodesk and Bentley tools. Responsibilities include hydraulic analysis, network design, CAD production, scheduling, and supporting projects from concept through construction, with specific US experience highly desirable.

A civil engineering degree is required, with a postgraduate qualification in water resources or environmental engineering considered desirable. Candidates must have at least six years of experience delivering sustainable drainage schemes for major infrastructure, proven design and project management skills across all project stages, and familiarity with relevant British Standards and quality management protocols.

• Hold a civil engineering degree; postgraduate study in water resources or environmental engineering is desirable.
• Minimum 6+ years experience delivering sustainable drainage schemes for major infrastructure (airports, highways, rail, site developments).
• Proven project and design management experience from concept to construction, especially in the USA.
• Proficient in drainage design software (Storm CADD, Civil Storm, OpenRoad Designer, HEC‑RAS, HY8, FlowMaster, Culvert Master, Ponds Pack, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, 12D) and BIM tools (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, InfraWorks, Navisworks).
• Knowledge of British Standards, quality management protocols, and digital/common data environment BIM applications.
• Strong client liaison and communication skills; ability to mentor and develop team capabilities.
