Construction Inspector (Water/Wastewater)

Description

We are seeking a Construction Inspector in Austin, TX to provide field inspection and oversight for our environmental and infrastructure projects. The role involves conducting site inspections, documenting construction progress, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and safety standards, and communicating effectively with project managers, contractors, and a wide range of technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Inspect pavements, bridges, retaining walls, sidewalks, channels, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, tunnels, and buildings.
• Conduct thorough inspections of water and wastewater pipelines, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
• Oversee and perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of pipelines, documenting results promptly.
• Inspect concrete structures, foundations, and reinforced elements, monitoring rebar placement and alignment.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, prepare reports, and provide feedback to project managers and contractors.
• Enforce site safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to resolve construction issues and quality control problems.
• Assist in evaluating change orders and inspecting related work to assess impacts on project scope and budget.

Requirements

• Hold a high school diploma and at least 5 years of construction inspection experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or engineering/construction certification preferred.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all construction work aspects.
• Experience with water and wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and related construction/repairs.
• Skilled in structural concrete and concrete pavement methods, including required testing procedures.
• Proficient in soil compaction and density testing.
• Qualified to inspect Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete (HMAC).
• Capable of lifting 40 lb regularly and working in extreme weather, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods with protective gear.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel routinely to field and office sites.
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication abilities.
