Project Controls Manager (Cost) - Data Center Construction

Description

The Project Controls Manager will support a prestigious technology client’s expanding data‑center infrastructure program, partnering with global construction teams and cross‑functional stakeholders such as Analytics, Procurement and Finance. The role focuses on cost management, financial forecasting, risk identification and program governance across mission‑critical projects.

• Provide preconstruction cost analysis, budget baselines, and annual contractor purchase orders.
• Align cost and schedule for phased campus builds, including utilities and long‑lead equipment.
• Manage internal project budgets and schedules of values for monthly reporting across multiple projects.
• Oversee external budgets, commitment and change management, and document control via platforms.
• Facilitate change order routing, content analysis, and secure executive approvals.
• Lead monthly forecasting, cash‑flow analysis, variance identification, and executive reporting.
• Ensure accurate quarterly accruals for purchase orders, coordinating with vendors and Finance.
• Maintain risk registers and evaluate contingencies for internal and contractor risks.
• Conduct monthly financial health reviews using dashboards, budget software, and productivity reports.
• Collaborate with site schedulers to align financial forecasts with Primavera P6 schedule updates.
• Track renewable energy, water conservation, and sustainability milestone impacts.
• Develop scenario analyses for phasing strategies and risk exposure.
• Partner daily with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams (Analytics, Procurement, Finance).
• Prepare and deliver presentations on project health, risks, and performance to leadership.
• Support programmatic initiatives, training, and process alignment for consistency across sites.
• Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Experience in construction project controls on large, multi‑project programs.
• Proven forecasting and change‑management experience on large‑scale construction projects.
• Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills across multiple sites.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and cost‑control tools (e.g., eBuilder, Procore).
• Experience with Unifier (preferred) and ability to interpret schedules and link impacts to cost forecasts.
• Background in data‑center construction or mission‑critical infrastructure.
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration, advanced cooling systems, and sustainability programs.
• Comfortable working within phased, campus‑scale programs.
