Gas Plant Operator - Hobbs, NM

Description

The Gas Plant Operator sets up and runs automatic or semi‑automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous gas plant operation, monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, and pressures to meet production specifications, reports any malfunctions, makes minor adjustments and repairs, and follows established safety procedures at all times.

• Follow all safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
• Operate amine, condensate stabilization, mol‑sieve dehydration, and residue gas compression units.
• Analyze specifications and control continuous process units.
• Read operating logs, test results, and laboratory recommendations to adjust equipment controls.
• Take readings within the gas plant and monitor specialized equipment.
• Make adjustments to equipment as authorized.
• Train and mentor operator trainees or entry‑level operators.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance, obtain work permits, and issue work orders including LOTO.
• Work 12‑hour shifts, 60‑100% outdoors in varying temperatures, and handle PPE and lifting up to 30 lb.

Requirements

Job Title: Gas Plant Operator (Job Code: 20002136) – Operations family, non‑exempt, skilled III level, working in Gas Transmission & Distribution.

A High School Diploma or GED is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. No licensure or certification is required for entry.

• Obtain certification and pass written and skills tests for operator level progression.
• Complete required refresher training and detailed shift handovers.
• Demonstrate communication, auditing, attention to detail, decision making, and troubleshooting skills.
