Diligently ensure compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, and identifying potential hazards to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
Participate in project estimating and economic analysis.
Manage consultants' work, ensuring compliance and technical adequacy against approved.
Perform engineering calculations and studies to support project scope.
Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging open communication, reporting unsafe conditions, and suggesting improvements to safety practices.
Review drawings associated with projects, including manufacturers' equipment.
Substation Design includes the creation of substation construction drawing packages, developing bill of materials and the procurement of minor materials.
Perform conceptual and detailed high voltage and medium voltage Substation Physical/Electrical design for substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three-line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings)
Coordinate with design consultants and interface with internal design staff.
Provide detailed technical scope and cost estimate documentation for use by both internal and external design resources.
Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports of technical problems, investigative findings, and engineering recommendations.

Drawings in specified formats shall include elementary diagrams, relay one-line diagrams, connection diagrams, panel layout diagrams, and circuit schedules. Materials shall include relays, communication and monitoring systems, panel meters, control house panels, cables and associated wiring materials).
Experience and or knowledge with power analysis software is ideal (i.e. SKM, Etap, EasyPower, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Past project experience working with large utilities.
Proven experience in Substation Design should include: general arrangement, electrical equipment, plans, elevation and section views, Equipment cable trays, cable design, conduit fill calcs, rigid bus calcs, grounding and conduit layouts, control schematics, wiring diagrams
Prior PG&E Estimating Experience
Experience with Greenfields and Brownfields
A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
Familiarity with grounding studies and/or lightning protection is a plus
Can work remotely from Northern California, with travels to Pleasanton, Bay Area and Fresno.
Eight (8) years of professional experience within substation design and engineering for electrical utilities
General knowledge and application of IEEE Standards as they pertain to substations
