In this role the Lineman works safely on new construction, maintenance, and repair of both energized and de‑energized overhead work, leading crew members when the foreman is absent. He or she interprets job prints, conducts pre‑job briefings, ensures proper PPE use, and performs physically demanding tasks at heights and in confined spaces.
- Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead lines.
- Lead crew members in the foreman's absence.
- String overhead wire and install poles, anchors, transformers, lightning arrestors, cut‑outs, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Replace cut‑out fuses and clear faulted circuits.
- Identify primary and secondary voltages and recognize induced voltage.
- Apply grounding procedures and work safely at heights or in confined spaces.
- Install and remove personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Climb various structures (wood, steel) using appropriate tools.
- Phase out lines using phasing sticks and obtain a one‑shot on reclosers.
- Plan safe work based on job prints or work orders and conduct pre‑job/tailgate briefings.
- Perform reconductoring and install/remove mechanical jumpers.
- Use load‑bust tools for fault isolation.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition.
- Travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at various locations.
- Communicate effectively in English and inspect rubber goods and PPE.

Class A Linemen are skilled technicians responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The position may require travel to various sites, including out‑of‑state locations, depending on customer demands.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of recent field experience, be able to read and communicate effectively in English, and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (or a permit within 60 days). The role also requires the ability to lift over 50 lb, travel long distances on short notice, and work overtime, including live‑line duties in all weather conditions.
- Work outdoors in inclement weather and lift more than 50 lb.
