Renewables Control Center Technician

Description

• Identify and ticket plant communication, equipment outages, and under‑production issues using SCADA, DAS, and a CMMS.
• Act as primary point of contact with Balancing Authorities, Transmission Operators, Distribution Operators, and Scheduling Entities.
• Maintain logs of solar plant operations and document events per ROC procedures.
• Schedule planned and unplanned outages with Scheduling Entities.
• Initiate responses to plant changes, site trips, feeder circuit trips, and loss of communications.
• Operate as a control room operator for renewable generation, preferably wind or solar.
• Apply strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve technical and operational problems.
• Comply with OSHA safety standards and protocols.
• Provide 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays (6 PM‑6 AM shifts).
• Interact routinely with Remote Operations Center staff across all shifts.
• Perform routine office tasks such as operating computers, calculators, copiers, and printers.

Requirements

• Demonstrate knowledge of commercial and utility‑scale solar facility design, operations, and maintenance issues.
• Work effectively in a high‑stress environment where decisions impact safety and equipment reliability.
• Master Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and general computer proficiency.
• Communicate frequently, both orally and in writing.
