Technical Coordinator

Description

Working closely with the Technical Manager, the Technical Coordinator will support the delivery of a site-based project, managing all technical, engineering and architectural aspects from commencement on site through to completion, final adoptions and handovers. You will play a key role in ensuring that technical information is produced, checked and distributed in line with programme requirements, to the correct quality and within budget, enabling effective procurement and delivery of the build programme.

• Ensure compliance with company contracts, procedures and administration systems
• Manage changes to technical project information through the company’s discounted cash flow process
• Ensure Building Regulations and warranty conditions are cleared without delay and without risk to the business
• Manage external design teams and specialist consultants to ensure all construction documents are delivered in line with the agreed development programme and budget
• Review and scrutinise drawings, specifications and details for compliance, buildability and value engineering opportunities throughout all stages of the design process
• Receive, coordinate and check specialist subcontractor and supplier design information
• Liaise closely with Planning, Commercial, Health & Safety and Sales departments
• Manage enquiries and applications to statutory service companies and local authorities
• Prepare and check brochure plans
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building products, construction techniques, Building Regulations and relevant legislation
• Assist with the preparation of operations and maintenance manuals, including Health & Safety files for handover to management companies and/or housing associations
• Manage the distribution of preliminary, construction and as-built information internally, working with the Document Controller where applicable, and ensuring a high-quality, fully coordinated design package
• Provide ongoing site support and manage responses to technical requests for information
• Arrange, coordinate and manage all design and technical meetings with internal departments, ensuring actions are clearly recorded and followed up
• Attend specialist supplier and subcontractor meetings as required
• Attend and report at monthly Project Review Meetings where required
• Resolve design and construction issues in collaboration with consultants and internal teams
• Secure statutory approvals (including S278, S104 and S38 agreements) in a timely manner

Requirements

• Highly organised, with the ability to manage both workload and others
• Proven experience in detailed design across residential schemes, including reinforced concrete, steel frame and timber frame construction
• Architectural or engineering background, with AutoCAD experience beneficial
• Ability to review, question and challenge design information across all disciplines
• Strong working knowledge of the residential development and technical design process
• Strong attention to detail
• A collaborative team player with strong communication skills
• Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with all disciplines and levels
• Capable of managing people, processes and time effectively
• Ability to interpret and interrogate design and project programmes, including identification of critical paths
• Degree educated or holding a relevant professional qualification
• Sound understanding of statutory requirements, including Building Regulations, NHBC Standards and sustainability requirements
