Tasks

-Client Engagement: Work closely with developers, homeowners, and consultants to understand project goals and guide design decisions. -Documentation & Coordination: Produce and oversee the preparation of high-quality drawings and specifications. Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and landscape consultants. -Code & Zoning Compliance: Ensure projects meet local zoning regulations, building codes, and community design standards. -Weekly training sessions: Continuously develop your skills and stay updated with industry trends. -Team Collaboration: Mentor junior designers and work closely with internal teams to deliver well-executed designs on schedule. -Project Oversight: Manage all project phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. -Design Leadership: Lead the architectural design of townhouse developments, ensuring a balance between creativity, functionality, and neighborhood context.

What You Bring

We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Senior Architect to lead the design and delivery of townhouse residential projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience in low- to mid-density residential typologies, e.g. townhouses. This role involves hands-on design, technical oversight, client collaboration, and project management from concept to completion. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in complex development projects throughout the Bay Area. -Familiarity with permitting processes, especially in urban infill or historic districts. -Strong portfolio showing diverse townhouse designs, including front-loaded, rear-loaded, alley-access, and stacked variations. -Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture. -Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. -Deep understanding of wood-frame construction, building envelopes, and cost-effective design detailing. -Experience with Passive House, Net Zero, or green building certifications. -Knowledge of traditional and contemporary residential vernaculars. -Site Sensitivity: Apply knowledge of grading, access, and landscape integration in tight urban or suburban sites. -Licensed Architect (or on the path to licensure). -7–10+ years of professional experience with a strong focus on residential townhouse or low-rise multifamily design. -Background in modular or prefab townhouse delivery (optional but valued). -Strong communication and organizational skills, with experience presenting to clients and review boards.
