All press team members follow documented procedures and are responsible for producing products that meet or exceed specifications. Responsibilities include efficiently changing dies, maintaining proper tooling temperature, double‑checking setups to avoid plugging, pre‑staging tooling, advancing and stretching extrusions to tolerance using the HMI program, measuring and documenting dimensions, performing quality checks, cutting extrusions to correct length, transferring material without damage, recording performance in EPICS and log sheets, and assisting with saw‑tail operations and gauge readings.
Apogee Architectural Metals’ Extrusion Press Team members are cross‑trained in roles such as Die Setter, Stretcher, Saw Operator and Saw Tail Operator. The crew works together to produce quality products at maximum rate, ensuring all sales orders are extruded on schedule while wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, heat‑resistant gloves, ear plugs, hard hats, and for Die Setters, high‑temperature protective sleeves. Safety and respect for tooling, equipment, and property are emphasized, and the team keeps the extrusion area clean.
Position requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to stand at least eight hours, lift 50 lb repeatedly, bend, twist, push, pull, read tape measures, micrometers and calipers, follow work instructions, perform basic math and computer tasks, use hand tools, demonstrate excellent attendance, have crane operations training, and possess reliable transportation. All applicants must meet these physical and skill criteria to ensure safe and effective performance on the press line.
