The Construction Manager DWV Expert conducts field assessments of PG&E’s electric distribution facilities, verifying the quality of overhead and underground inspections required by GO 165. This role also evaluates prior construction work against PG&E Construction Standards, ensuring compliance with both emergency and planned corrective notifications. Working independently, the expert partners with functional area colleagues to identify root causes, drive process improvements, and serve as a technical resource for field personnel.
Key responsibilities include applying broad expertise to verify work across multiple disciplines, collaborating with senior managers and electric operation supervisors, and leading safety and verification discussions. The manager acts as the primary point of contact for inspectors, oversees inspection workflows, and serves as Incident Commander and PG&E representative in the field, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements. Additional duties involve mentoring staff, managing project documentation, and traveling up to 50% of the time, including occasional overnight stays.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and have at least seven years of industrial engineering or construction experience. Desired qualifications include seven years of work‑verification or leadership experience, Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification, completion of a lineman apprenticeship or equivalent, and prior PG&E or similar experience. Strong communication, advanced knowledge of relevant General Orders and construction manuals, and certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Quality Improvement Specialist are also sought.
The position is hybrid, allowing remote work combined with on‑site assignments based on business needs. PG&E provides a salary range of $126,000 to $200,000 for the Bay Area, with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, education, and internal equity. The role is also eligible for discretionary incentive compensation programs.
