Description

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the design, build, test, implementation and maintenance of technology solutions, products and processes. The engineer works independently with minimal guidance, collaborates with scrum masters, project managers, QA, creative and UX teams, and ensures high‑quality releases through architecture, design, implementation and testing.

Key duties include gathering business requirements, creating product specifications, and delivering efficient, cost‑effective solutions; leading a team of less‑experienced engineers, prioritising bug fixes and supporting version‑control, CI/CD and automation; designing, developing and reviewing complex code and technical architecture for web, mobile, full‑stack or integration applications; and managing project risks and issues.

The role also requires maintaining deep technical knowledge, staying current with emerging technologies, enforcing standards and policies, and participating in IT architecture reviews, white‑paper creation and technology presentations.

• Gather business requirements and deliver cost‑effective technology solutions.
• Lead and mentor less‑experienced engineers; prioritize and assign bug fixes.
• Design, develop, and review complex code and technical architecture for web, mobile, full‑stack, or integration applications.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated unit/UI tests.
• Identify, capture, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and enforce compliance with standards and policies.
• Participate in IT architecture reviews, produce white papers, and present technology recommendations.
• Maintain expertise in operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Build and optimize database objects, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and user‑defined types.
• Design and implement robust APIs and end‑to‑end integration solutions.
• Apply Agile methodologies using tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, and GitHub; work with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and streaming data (Kafka, Snowflake).
• Lead design of integration solutions using ESB, API management, message queues, and micro‑services architectures.
• Mentor teams on technical and soft skills; drive best practices and process improvements.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), 5‑8 years of software development experience (or 9‑12 years combined education/work), proven leadership of small‑to‑medium teams, strong full‑stack development skills, expertise in operating systems or cloud platforms, mastery of 2‑3 programming languages, and solid database, API and debugging capabilities. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork and agile tool proficiency.

Preferred qualifications add experience leading software development initiatives, designing data models and system architecture, automated testing, building highly scalable applications, and mentoring teams. Familiarity with integration technologies such as Oracle Fusion, Dell Boomi, Apigee, ESB, API management, message queues, micro‑services, as well as cloud‑native tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake) is highly valued.

• Master 2‑3 programming languages/frameworks and apply functional programming concepts where appropriate.
• Deliver high‑quality software under tight deadlines with strong debugging and problem‑solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 5‑8 years of relevant experience (or 9‑12 years combined education/work).
• Proven ability to lead small‑to‑medium software development teams.
• Full‑stack development expertise with deep understanding of platform internals.
• Strong communication skills; translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with automated testing, test‑driven development, and scalable application design.
• Familiarity with data integration technologies such as Oracle Fusion, Dell Boomi, and Apigee.
