  • Produce and submit high quality, well-reasoned submissions to the VOA as part of the Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) process
  • Produce regular progress reports and attend client meetings
  • Devise and implement strategies to reduce clients’ business rates liabilities
  • Effectively manage and build client relationships. Provide excellent client service and keep clients updated on strategies and progress on CCA’s
  • Inspect and accurately measure properties for rating valuation purposes
  • Develop new business and build internal relationships to ensure that all opportunities are explored
  • Review rating assessments having regard to rental and comparable evidence in order to determine whether a Rateable Value is excessive
  • Manage workload effectively and ensure that CCA deadlines are met
  • Manage empty rates liabilities and submit relief applications

  • Knowledge of rating industry software such as Riverlake, Analyse, RatesData and Calcurate
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Experience of presenting cases at Valuation Tribunal and beyond
  • Qualified Chartered Surveyor with specific experience of dealing with rating valuations (other professional qualifications considered)
  • Ability to support and nurture junior members of the team
  • Up to date knowledge of rating legislation and practice
  • Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to identify new business opportunities and cross-sell additional services to clients
