The Role
Overview
Oversee facility operations, safety, waste handling, staff training and compliance.

Tasks
-Identify operational problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and providing suggestions for resolution. -Assist in reporting and investigating all near misses/incidents/accidents resulting in personal injury and or property damage. -Coordinates between the GFL transportation team, other GFL facilities and third-party waste disposal destinations for outbound transport of waste. -Prepare the daily schedule of facility operations on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. -Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs and -Assists in the resolution of employee conflicts/ issues professionally. -Maintain the branch safety programs, documents and training programs. -Assist in managing any HR concerns in unionized settings with direct reporting staff. -Monitor and maintain staff training records. -Oversee that all employees are adhering to company policies and procedures. -Ensure the inspection and maintenance program for equipment/machinery in the facility is being followed and coordinate repairs and replacements as necessary. -Provide guidance and performance management to staff. -Accountable for upholding the GFL safety service standards within the assigned division. -Attend meetings as required. -Perform field observations of personnel. -Assist in determining the best pathways for waste management including -Provide training for new employees. -Coordinate services on site and oversee work performed for safety and quality excellence. -Daily supervision of all facility operations employees. -Plan and schedule work for all aspects of the operations team at the facility. -Develop corrective actions to solve operational issues as they arise -Assist customer service and service teams to address customer requests and scheduling based on knowledge of the facility operations and status. -Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

What You Bring
-Effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. -Possess superior organizational and people management skills of large teams. -Experience and understanding of industrial and liquid waste industry preferred with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role. -Knowledge of TDG, Ontario Reg. 347 & 406, and Ontario Health and Safety Act is preferred. -Able to work outdoors, exposed to the ambient weather conditions. -Must be able to utilize required personal protective equipment (hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, safety footwear). -Valid G License with a good driver abstract -Proficient computer skills that must include Microsoft Office & Google suite. -Availability to work on-call rotation including evenings and weekends.
