Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement activities.
Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure reliability of equipment.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel-electric locomotives.
Inspect, test, and repair electrical systems, wiring, control circuits, relays, alternators, generators, traction motors, and battery systems.
Safely operate locomotive equipment when moving units within shop or yard limits.
Perform FRA-mandated inspections, testing, and documentation, including 92-day, annual, and periodic inspections.
Follow all FRA, OSHA, and company safety rules and guidelines.
Replace, rebuild, or overhaul engines, pumps, air systems, brake systems, and other locomotive components as needed.
Install, maintain, and repair electrical components such as lighting, control panels, sensors, and safety devices.
Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, power tools, and specialized locomotive repair equipment.
Utilize diagnostic equipment, electrical test meters, schematics, and mechanical drawings to identify and resolve issues.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection documents.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, lubrication systems, air compressors, cooling systems, and associated mechanical components.

Basic computer skills for work orders, email, and documentation.
Experience with EMD or GE locomotive platforms.
2+ years of locomotive diesel mechanic experience. Industrial electrical experience strongly preferred.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, FRA regulations, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Working knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Completion of technical or vocational training in diesel technology or industrial electrical systems.
