The electrician will play a key part in delivering safe, compliant and timely planned and reactive maintenance for prison electrical systems, supporting the HMPPS mission to provide secure and efficient facilities.
- Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, carrying out work safely and efficiently.
- Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance and replace failed domestic components.
- Actively fault‑find and solve problems on domestic electrical systems.
- Test and inspect installations in line with the 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
- Undertake electrical installation activities according to designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
- Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services and oversee the BMS system.
- Support zero‑carbon initiatives and sustainability goals.

Applicants must hold a relevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds 2365 parts 1‑3, BTEC or NVQ level 3, be familiar with BS 7671 18th Edition and the Electricity at Work Regulations, and have experience in electrical maintenance, distribution and testing.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently, using initiative, comfortable working at heights, and may also possess IT knowledge and experience with fire alarm or CCTV systems, which can be developed on the job.
