Description

The Production Supervisor will lead the first‑shift hourly team at the Racine facility, overseeing multiple manufacturing departments to ensure efficient, economical operations that meet quality standards and production schedules. This role combines hands‑on supervision with continuous‑improvement initiatives, balancing safety, accountability, and employee development.

Core duties include directing workflow, coaching staff, communicating daily with managers, monitoring production metrics, auditing labor and machine reports, and leveraging manufacturing software for materials management and scheduling. The supervisor will champion lean‑manufacturing practices, troubleshoot problems across materials, equipment, and processes, and implement corrective actions promptly.

• Supervise hourly staff on first shift and manage workflow across multiple manufacturing departments.
• Communicate daily with managers and peers to relay operating conditions and suggest improvements.
• Monitor production metrics on the floor to ensure optimal use of manpower, machines, tooling, and repairs.
• Audit labor and machine reports for accuracy and efficiency against standard production rates.
• Utilize manufacturing software for materials management, shop‑floor scheduling, packaging, and equipment operation.
• Lead lean‑manufacturing initiatives and implement operational solutions with the team.
• Identify and resolve issues related to materials, quality, equipment, methods, or tools promptly.
• Enforce safety regulations, conduct safety inspections, and administer disciplinary actions when needed.
• Conduct employee performance appraisals, recommend wage adjustments or promotions, and develop training programs.

Requirements

The position requires at least five years of operations experience with prior supervisory responsibility, a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field (preferred), and familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets, CPR/First Aid, and Microsoft Office. Key personal attributes are critical‑thinking, rapid decision‑making, time‑management, and conflict‑resolution abilities.

• Must understand Material Safety Data Sheets and obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, rapid decision‑making, time‑management, and conflict‑resolution skills.
