The I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Embedded Software (Firmware) Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Engineering organization. The I&C team designs and implements electronic hardware and software for nuclear power plant I&C systems. The software team collaborates closely with hardware designers and plant operations. Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.
Key responsibilities include developing creative software solutions, preparing design specifications, and conducting module and integration testing. The engineer performs code reviews, verifies design specifications, and ensures compliance with engineering procedures. Engagement with customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks is essential. Effective communication of status to leadership and management of multiple priorities complete the role.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA. At least three months of software development experience, preferably with C programming, version control, IDEs, and debugging tools is required. Experience with coding conventions, unit testing, and integration testing is also needed. The role is located at GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC and requires eligibility for U.S. export‑controlled information.
Desired qualifications include familiarity with coding standards, code review practices, and data structures or algorithms. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to solve technical challenges using common design patterns and communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms. Proactive learning of new tools and advocating improvements are valued. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and obtain export‑control clearance if required.

Relocation assistance is provided. The salary range for this position is $72,000‑$108,000, with a geographic differential of up to 130% in certain locations. Employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
