You will develop integrated HVAC solutions for commercial/industrial ventilation, control rooms, laboratories, chilled water, and heating systems, while supporting the planning, scheduling, and detailed design phases of facility engineering work.
Core duties include performing design calculations, creating detailed system designs, preparing technical specifications and engineering studies, and collaborating with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely, complete designs.
The role also supports senior engineers by reviewing existing facilities, proposing upgrades or replacements, and presenting findings and recommendations to clients and peers, adhering to ASHRAE standards and current industry codes.
Joining Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group means contributing to clean, carbon‑free energy through nuclear engineering, SMR and advanced reactor projects, plant life extensions, digital modernization, and coal‑to‑nuclear conversion initiatives, all guided by safety, innovation, and sustainability.
This hybrid position requires three days per week in the office and offers challenging assignments that involve designing HVAC systems, investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering issues.
Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, at least seven years of HVAC, ventilation, heating, and chilled water design experience for laboratory or industrial facilities, proficiency with TRACE 700 or Carrier HAP, and the ability to create flow diagrams and P&IDs; optional skills are AutoCAD, CADME, MicroStation, a PE license, and ASHRAE membership.
