Safely operate Class A vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and lowboys, to transport freight in a timely manner.
Obtain all moving permits, licenses, titles, safety checks, etc., as required by corporate policy, state or federal regulations, or client requirements.
Thoroughly inspect vehicles, cargo, and equipment before and after the trip for mechanical issues and safety concerns.
Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts.
Assist with shop and facility maintenance, including yard clean-up, organization, and power washing vehicles and equipment.
Ensure compliance with established safety procedures and DOT regulations.
Perform minor emergency road service and light mechanical work, as needed.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and industry best practices regarding load securing and distribution.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
A working knowledge of regulations, techniques, and skills required to safely and legally operate commercial vehicles at a level typically acquired through one year of experience as a commercial driver.
Requires moderate overnight interstate travel (up to 25%).
Strong ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Three years’ operating lowboy trailers.
Ability to maintain DOT requires logs and paperwork.
