The manager will liaise with partners and professionals throughout the Grant Thornton International (GTI) network, assisting partners and managing directors in evaluating new opportunities or existing relationships that are subject to independence requirements, and supporting the adoption of global independence quality‑control requirements.
The US Independence Group monitors activities of various independence standard‑setters and regulatory bodies, including the AICPA, SEC, PCAOB, IFAC, GAO, and Department of Labor, ensuring the firm stays compliant with evolving standards.
The Independence Group also coordinates with quality‑control representatives and GTI member firms to discuss the ramifications of services and relationships, assists with relationship checks via the Relationship Checking System, supports acquisitions, monitors personal independence compliance, and publishes policies, training courses, and resources.
The manager will develop and present independence training, maintain publications and resources, provide internal consultations on nonaudit services and business relationships, and must communicate effectively with practitioners across assurance, tax, advisory, litigation support, risk, and recovery practices.
This role requires a broad knowledge of professional standards to evaluate independence, develop policies and quality‑control processes, work collaboratively across groups such as Private Equity, and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, results‑based environment.
