Tasks

Technical specialist role responsible for executing and supporting 3D scanning, data processing, and documentation activities within our LiDAR team. The 3D Scan Data Specialist works closely with project teams to ensure the accurate collection, processing, and organization of scan data from electric utility infrastructure projects. This role does not include project management or client-facing responsibilities but is critical to the quality and accuracy of our deliverables. -Imports and organizes scan data into appropriate software platforms for analysis and modeling support. -Maintains equipment logs and reports any malfunctions or calibration needs. -Performs in-field setups, coordinates scan positioning, and ensures proper scan registration and coverage. -Supports continuous improvement by providing feedback on scanning workflows and technology. -Applies basic CAD skills to assist with data extraction or conversion into usable design references. -Archives, backs up, and maintains file management standards for all scan data and documentation. -Operates 3D laser scanning equipment to collect LiDAR data in field environments, including substations and transmission lines. -Processes and registers raw point cloud data using software such as Leica Cyclone, Trimble RealWorks or similar tools. -Follows safety protocols and field work procedures to ensure safe data collection activities. -Uses QA/QC procedures to verify accuracy and completeness of scan data.

Our experienced team connects testing and engineering and allows problem solving and corrective actions to occur before they become adverse client challenges. -Familiarity with electric utility infrastructure, especially substations and transmission lines, is a plus. -Proficiency with point cloud registration software (e.g., Leica Cyclone, Trimble, FARO Scene) preferred. -Associate degree or technical certification in a related field such as Surveying, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or GIS, or equivalent experience preferred. -Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field scanning assignments as needed (up to 50% travel). -Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality. -Excellent organizational and file management skills. -2+ years of experience working with 3D scanning equipment and LiDAR data processing preferred. -Working knowledge of CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar preferred. -Ability to work independently in the field and follow standardized procedures. -Commitment to safety and the ability to follow established safety procedures in field environments.
