BESS Construction Manager

Description

• Oversee project scheduling, programming, and workflow coordination
• Review and approve subcontractor work, variations, and progress claims
• Provide regular progress reports to senior management
• Lead, mentor, and support Site Managers, Supervisors, and trades
• Identify risks, resolve issues, and escalate when required
• Drive project delivery to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Manage all construction activities across the BESS project site
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Queensland. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee all construction activities, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal teams to drive successful outcomes in one of Australia’s fastest-growing renewable energy sectors.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and subcontractors
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and civil works associated with energy storage projects
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Relevant construction certifications including White Card and Project Management credentials
• Excellent knowledge of Australian building codes, WHS legislation, and environmental compliance
• Valid Queensland driver’s license and Australian work rights
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Construction Manager or Project Manager
• Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects (BESS, solar, wind, or HV/MV electrical systems highly regarded)
• Trade qualification or degree in Construction Management (preferred)
