Electrical IT/AV & Telecom Design Engineer

The Engineer will serve as a liaison between architects, clients, consultants, and project managers from multiple engineering trades to identify and implement cabling infrastructure requirements for each individual project. The candidate will prepare Electrical IT, Audio, Visual, and Telecommunications infrastructure design and construction documents for each project. Experience should include design, specifications, and bid responses.

• Making vendor recommendations
• Making determinations on project construction budgets, reviewing bid documents, and overseeing the project bidding and project administration phase.
• Verifying proper installation of all technology infrastructure equipment during project construction phase.

Position Description: We are seeking a Technology Design Engineer who will work on technology planning projects, including Telecom, AV & Security. The Engineer will work with clients, manufacturers, design team members, and others, preparing construction documentation for each project. Experience should include drafting, designing, preparing specifications, and evaluating bid responses for telecommunications and security trades.

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in designing and drawing AV and security systems.
• Professional experience with designing AV plans, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment
• Familiarity with CAD & BIM software including AutoCAD & REVIT
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure including cable plant (horizontal & backbone), telecommunication room design, and pathways.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
• RCDD and architectural drafting background a plus
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with AV, Security, and BICSI standards required.
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited 4-year institution
• Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge of AV and security systems including but not limited to flow diagrams, rack elevations, and logical diagrams.
