  • Degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other IT/Telecom related field.
  • An industry professional-level certification may be substituted for certain years of experience.
  • Convey effective communication and be proficient using Microsoft applications, various vendor communications software i.e. putty, secureCRT, TFTP servers in order to install and remove hardware configurations on equipment.
  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in computer science or related field.
  • Experience in Microwave RF, DWDM, Routing/Switching L1-L3, and LMR Land Mobile Radio/ trunked radio.
  • Perform proficiency in splicing optical fiber OPGW and ADSS used by LCRA's telecommunication network utilizing the following test equipment: OTDR, Fiber Scope, Spectrum analyzer and RF Sweep test gear.
  • Networking Certification in Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, or equivalent such as CCNA, NRS1, JNCIA is highly preferred.
  • Driver’s License
  • Ability to install, commission, upgrade, integrate and solve problems; Cisco, Juniper, Nokia routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Three or more years of experience in one or more of the following networking technologies: WAN – MPLS, LAN – Route/Switch, DWDM, RF/Microwave Radio, 700/900MHz Trunked Radio (LMR) and/or LTE, fiber splicing or other relevant experience.
