The role leads a team of 8‑15 design and field personnel engaged in the design, construction, maintenance, emergency repair, and operation of overhead lines. It is an on‑site position that requires availability for emergency response to storms or other events that impact service.
The incumbent supervises overhead line crews (and, when needed, underground crews, substation maintenance staff, and planners), manages work to ensure quality, timeliness and budget compliance, and enforces safety practices, procedures, and union/management agreements. The position also represents DTE in daily contacts with customers, developers, municipal and governmental officials, and other utilities, while performing core supervisory functions such as planning, organizing, directing activities, staffing, performance management, reporting and budgeting.

Applicants must meet education and experience criteria ranging from a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience to a bachelor’s degree with two years of experience in line construction, electrical field work, or engineering/project management. Preferred qualifications include Red Tag certification, a Group A commercial driver’s license with air‑brake endorsement (or Ontario Class A with Z endorsement), operational experience, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- On‑site role: available to work at the assigned location
- Emergency response: must be available for primary assignments during storms or service‑impacting events
- High school diploma plus 6 years of experience in line construction, electrical field work, or lead‑worker roles
- Associate degree (business, engineering, construction or project management) plus 4 years relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree (business, engineering, construction or project management) plus 2 years relevant experience
- Red Tag qualified
- Group A commercial driver’s license with air‑brake endorsement (or Ontario Class A with Z endorsement)
- Operational experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, and on‑call supervisory rotation
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities to identify issues and recommend optimal solutions
