Master software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, change management, vulnerability scanning, and debuggers in the software development process.
Demonstrates programming skills that include analyzing information, software design, requirements, testing, documentation, problem solving, debugging and software development fundamentals/methodology.
Must demonstrate experience participating in systems engineering teams, with responsibilities including software engineering and program development to support systems engineering initiatives.
Knowledge of the academic as well as the practical aspects of Software Engineering is required.
Prior DOE experience and working knowledge of DOE processes and procedures.
Demonstrates ability to utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, change management, scanning, and debuggers in the software development process.
Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard software engineering practices and applications.
Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision to complete projects in a timely manner, make time for unplanned assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
Possessed an active clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
Demonstrates an applied understanding of computer languages, software development fundamentals/methodology and database infrastructure.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
Ongoing technical development in Software Engineering is required.
Fluent with JavaScript, VB, C++, and / or Python.
Demonstrate proficiency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex software.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline with 5 years’ proven performance in related assignments; or Non-related Bachelor degree with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s). Associate Degree in IT related discipline with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Non-related Associate Degree with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s). In lieu of degree, a HS diploma with typically at least 11 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.
