The Engineering Manager will serve as the overall technical integration lead at site, responsible for driving multidisciplinary engineering coordination, interface closure, constructability readiness, and technical assurance for the EPCM scope covering EAF, LRF/SMS, Continuous Caster Revamp, Hot Strip Mill Upgrades, and New Pickling Line.
This is a Port Talbot-based leadership position for a continuous period of ~24 months, ensuring engineering decisions, vendor clarifications, site queries, and work-front interfaces are resolved in real-time and closest to construction, accelerating readiness and reducing rework.
- Bring constructability insights early and continuously into engineering.
- Sign-off/endorse critical engineering packages before release for construction.
- Hands-on, not only a coordinator — ensures issues get closed.
- Lead HAZOP reviews, constructability sessions, 3D model integration and safety-in-design checks.
- Act as the primary decision-maker for technical matters requiring clarification or fast resolution at site.
- Drive closure of design gaps, vendor document issues (VDRL), and change-driven engineering impacts.
- Lead all engineering activities onsite at Port Talbot across SMS, Caster, HSM and CRM scope.
- Support subsystem definition, FAT/SAT alignment, and commissioning logic rollout.
- Build strong relationships with TSUK disciplines and maintain transparent communication channels.
- Translate engineering into construction work packs & commissioning handover documents.
- Own the Interface Resolution Register between SMS/EAF–Caster–Utilities–HSM–Pickling line.
- Ensure engineering is aligned with CDM design requirements, UK standards, TSUK specifications, and best EPCM practices.
- Ensure progressive maturation of engineering deliverables from IFD → IFI → IFC → As-Built.
- Work with Construction Manager, Field Engineering & Vendors to ensure drawings, materials, supports and access are installation ready.
- Chair weekly engineering/interface integration meetings.
- Mentor discipline leads, drive first-time-right culture, ensure productivity KPIs & engineering discipline at site.
- Lead the integrated engineering workforce:
- Coordinate tie-ins, brownfield interfaces, foundation readiness, and utility connections.

- Strong domain competence across EAF/SMS, Caster, HSM/CRM systems.
- Proven success managing OEMs like SMS, Primetals, Danieli, Tenova, etc.

- ~25+ years experience in large steel plant EPC/EPCM projects.
