Health Safety Environment Officer

Description

• Conduct regular safety inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective measures
• Collaborate with the site team to ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide recommendations for preventing future occurrences.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and licenses relevant to construction activities.
• Identify areas for improvement in safety and environmental management systems and develop strategies to enhance overall performance.
• Monitor and evaluate environmental performance through site assessments and audits.
• Provide guidance and support to project teams, subcontractors, and employees on safety-related matters.
• Develop and maintain waste management plans, including proper disposal, recycling, and hazardous waste handling.
• Develop and implement safety programs and policies for our construction sites.
• Analyse data and metrics to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators, and implement proactive measures to reduce risks.
• Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness and ensure proper response and communication protocols are in place.
• Identify potential environmental risks, develop strategies to mitigate them, and implement appropriate control measures.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans to effectively manage potential crises, such as fire, natural disasters, or chemical spills.
• Conduct safety training sessions and workshops for employees to promote a culture of safety awareness.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of local and national safety and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety, hazard identification, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proficient in using computer software and applications relevant to EHS management.
• Proven experience (2+ years) in Environmental Health and Safety in the construction industry.
