Assist in developing site- specific safety programs as required by client and Cal OSHA

Remain abreast of changes in the safety and hazardous materials field to maintain a living safety program
Analyze accidents and incidents to determine trends in order to develop necessary
Mentoring project team members and executive management in addressing safety violations
Build and create strong subcontractor relationships with subcontractors and upper safety management and strive to establish new relationships
Train and assist application support services to train WEO administrators
Show alignment with and promote WEO Corporate Values
Communicate with owner safety concerns and exposure presented by their subcontractors on WEO job sites
Advance the safety knowledge of WEO personnel and subcontractor
Conduct project safety inspections with reports based on designated time frames
Assist Safety Mojo Administrators to maintain Safety Mojo project information
Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all project stakeholders (Owner, jurisdictional agencies, design professionals, various WEO departments, WEO project team, and subcontractors)
Coordinate with project / safety teams to anticipate upcoming work-activities and ensure compliance with OSHA and W.E. O’Neil IIPP
Support Project team members within the designated time frame by contributing to pre-planning and start-up meetings and answering calls for assistance
Share information to prevent recurrence with management and Safety Committee
Assist in pooling resources with OSHA and other governmental agencies regarding incident investigations regulatory concerns and seek advice concerning WEO’s proposed safety practices
Discuss solutions to field problems or conflicts, and help develop practical solutions
Address concerns with project management and superintendent to solicit their assistance in defining resolution prior to the subcontractor’s start of job
Assist project and executive management in safety responsibilities and needs with current and new legal safety regulations and cooperation of subcontractors
Recommend classes and input to field personnel and other WEO safety personnel
Foster Teamwork – Participate and foster collaboration among team members and among teams
Encourage project managers, project engineers, and superintendents to use Safety Mojo to assist them in becoming more efficient
Promote and recognize safe behavior
Educate through subcontractors, schools and trade organizations safety trends, new work procedures and goals to further the safety of the community as well as WEO
Encourage subcontractors and other general contractors to upgrade their safety processes by WEO involvement in training programs and association
Assist superintendents in determining safety procedures for uncommon conditions and review requested Site Safety Analysis procedures
Assist in training new field superintendents, project engineers, and project managers regarding the safety procedures presently utilized at WEO
Research and evaluate safety resources through the latest technology
Assist in improving the safety forms and other safety documentation collected from subcontractors
Investigate incidents to determine causes up to and including root cause, corrective actions and distributed as necessary to prevent recurrence
When requested, attend and advise on contract pre-award meeting and suggest contract terms to discuss EMR over 125% and / or frequent OSHA visits (3 visits per year or repeat citations) to assist in preventing incidents and reducing OSHA visits
Mentoring project personnel regarding safety goals, concerns, and resolutions at other WEO projects
Assist in training of Safety Tech through formal means and in-field inspections
When requested, attend and advise on project pre-construction checklist to determine
Schedule and attend safety training to improve safety knowledge as identified by Safety Director
Define the subcontractor document requirements and verify they are properly being collected and stored properly.
Make conscious effort to attend subcontractor industry events to help broaden our subcontractor relationships and to market WEO
Document incident investigations through photos, videos, witness statements and other such methods for protection of the Company
Attend safety committees such as WEO Safety Committee, Safety Mojo Committee, etc. meetings to help Safety Director by taking notes and offering input
Inform appropriate WEO parties of potential subcontractors and projects that are discovered through discussions with other associates
Facilitate safety training in areas of construction safety and other subjects as dictated by field and administrative needs to create an acceptable level of safety on WEO job sites
Implementation of company programs
Review JHAs and DTHA for site-specific work steps, hazards, and controls as dictated by contract or subcontractor’s unsafe procedures/actions
Communicate with owner and subs safety concerns and exposure presented by their subcontractors on WEO job sites

Four-year degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or related field or minimum 4-7 years of relevant project field experience in construction safety with an expectation to earn a degree that supports the growth of the department and position.
Understands the basics of Owner’s contract including AIA Forms and General Conditions
Drive for Results – Drive for results and success; convey a sense of urgency and drive issues to closure; persist despite obstacles and opposition
Understand and effectively use company software programs, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Effective oral and written communication skills
Understanding construction terminology, trades, project types and construction phases and steps
Basic understanding of WEO standard subcontractor insurance requirements
Ability to work non-routine hours as needed
Understand the basics of Owner’s contract including AIA Forms and General Conditions
Completion of OSHA / Cal OSHA 30
Hold a current CDL certification
Understands basics of WEO standard Master Subcontract Agreement “MSA” and its standard exhibits.
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Effective written and verbal language communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of the importance of relationship building.
