The Mechanical & Electrical Coordinator reports to the Director of Operations and provides leadership for both office coordination and field supervision of building systems. Based in Edmonton, the role involves regular travel to project sites throughout the province.
Key duties include detailed review of architectural and structural drawings to identify mechanical and electrical conflicts, coordination of shop drawings, and assistance in selecting equipment. The coordinator also supports the project schedule by integrating site‑services, M/E, elevator, and fire‑suppression timelines, and develops the testing and commissioning program.
Quality assurance responsibilities encompass creating a QA/QC program, conducting inspections, maintaining logs, and ensuring that subcontractors meet plan specifications. The role further manages sub‑trade coordination, monitors progress against schedules, oversees submittals and shop‑drawing reviews, and handles change‑order and RFI processes.
Additional tasks involve establishing temporary services layouts, procuring utilities, maintaining meter logs, and leading commissioning, close‑out documentation, and warranty activities. The coordinator works closely with building authorities and ensures final as‑built documentation is complete for payment release.
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management and bring at least five years of mechanical and electrical construction experience. Desired attributes include strong leadership, analytical thinking, effective communication, the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, and a commitment to safety and mentorship.
